About
An opportunity for caregivers: counselors, therapists, psychologists, and others to deepen their practice and begin the work of building embodied, anti-racist culture together.
In professional caregiving, “love” can be a four-letter word, raising the specter of inappropriate intimacy between client and caregiver, and potentially muddying the therapeutic waters. Yet, as professional therapists and counselors, we have the care of many who appear as “monsters” to themselves and others, we may be frightened into silence when that monstrousness appears, and we might feel monstrous ourselves. In this course we will dive into the love of monsters as it pertains to showing up for our clients and ourselves with authenticity, care, and discernment.
LEARN
In this course you will:
- Venture into “Monsterworld” — where you’ve always resided.
- Learn somatic “toys” and reps for settling the body in times of inner and external conflict.
- See why therapy and counseling often do not help people seeking help in relationships.
- Review common misconceptions about the role of communication—and its breakdown.
- Learn the difference between clean and dirty pain.
- Reconsider the role of the therapist/counselor.
- Learn to see every relationship as a place of peril and possibility; and a chance to grow up.
