About

Racialized trauma has taken root in ALL bodies, whether through experiencing racism, witnessing racism, or enacting racism. Embodied Somatic Abolitionism is a living, embodied anti-racist practice and cultural building—a way of being in the world. It is a return to the age-old wisdom of human bodies respecting, honouring, and resonating with other human bodies. It is not exclusively a goal, an attitude, a belief, an idea, a strategy, a movement, a government, a plan, a system, a political belief, or a step forward.

LEARN

In this course you will:

  • Learn what Embodied Somatic Abolition is and isn’t (hint: It’s not a way to escape or bypass your body).
  • Learn about trauma, how it resides in the body, and how that unresolved trauma keeps us stuck at best and dangerous at worst.
  • Learn about your body’s six intelligences or VIMBASIs.
  • Use “toys” and reps to settle and resource the body when trauma arises
  • Consider the ways in which people in your culture both suffer from and benefit from white-body supremacy.
  • Examine your own inherited biases of anti-Blackness and Indigenous invisibility.
  • Learn ways to heal trauma in the self, in the community, and maybe the world.
  • Receive access to the workshop videos for one week after the final session.
